J.S. Mill: Confirmed Hater

Big dog pitbull philosopher John Stuart Mill on pleasure: "It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied."
After reading that, some tiny voice way back in my brain yelled "YO!!! Trip on THAT, you Buffalo-Bills-loving, Crime-Mob-listening, Peedi-Crakk-mixtape-buying, chicken-wing-eating, gin-and-tonic-gulping, GTA-San-Andreas-playing, Carl-Hiaasen-novel-reading, Starship-Troopers-watching gutter trash!" (Apologies to Spike Lee.)
But fuck Mill, man. I could have changed his mind. Like Juelz said, bring in the opera.
For a discussion of high and low pleasures by DeQuincey, a contemporary of Mill's, check the classic laudanum gothic below.
