DEAD OR ALIVE????

Alive! Took a minute, though - this summer flu was not for play.

1. As promised, a homegrown mix snippet from Mike Famous aka Queen's Finest aka late-night record throw champ. At 3:35 AM last Saturday at Savalas, the first ten minutes of this little morsel were pretty much like water for chia pet. Dude just started fucking around with music like two months ago, but he just keeps on killing and killing, sorta like he's developed a taste for blood. Oh well, you can only hang him once - but you'll probably listen to this twice.

2. The Fader's got eyes everywhere!

****WEIRD LINKS FROM HERE ON OUT****

3. Haunted New Jersey. Word to Barat and Sanchez - they got ghosts in Elizabeth!

4. American Journal of Bioethics: now in blog form.

5. Gallery of classic radio dials. [via Tom McMahon]

6. Finally, for your (re)consideration, the sad tale of Lawn Chair Larry, the dude who flew his lawn chair to a cruising altitude of 16,000 feet using 45 helium-filled weather balloons in July of '82. Sad because of sentences like this: "So he stayed there, drifting cold and frightened with his beer and sandwiches, for more than 14 hours."
But a-ha!
"As he was led away in handcuffs, a reporter dispatched to cover the daring rescue asked him why he had done it. Larry replied nonchalantly,
"A man can't just sit around."

UPDATE: Aja writes in to say that there was a major motion picture loosely based on Larry a couple years back, so probably a lot of you have heard it all before. But goddamn it was new to me! so it stays. Although I do remember the Bloom County parallel plotline, involving Opus, Cutter John, and CJ's wheelchair...
