Losman: "I just like to bang"

Phenom-to-be J.P. Losman gets the full bio treatment on the front page of USA Today.
A must-read. Classic quotes abound: "I have so many older men counting on me to do my job and make sure I lead them to victory." Uh, dude? You forgot the requisite nhjic - esp. for all my Lackawanna Catholics. (Father Baker, holler!) Or when he's describing "borrowing" boats after dark back home in Venice Beach: "I would look at the ocean and think how cool it would be to go out there myself in the pitch-black night. I was always an adventurer-traveler." Fuck yeah, cuz! Living the dream. I am so goddamn jealous; dude is two months younger than me. Losman is Mexican-American - first Mexican-American QB in the league? When Madden 06 comes out, me and JP are gonna be STOMPING.
Unfortunately, the online version doesn't give you the can't-miss pictures of J.P. twirling a football in front of City Hall [UPDATE: BUT THE STENCE DOES YALL!] or lamping with an iced tea down by the Lo's fabulous marina - all while super-casually rocking a Police Reggatta de Blanc t-shirt. What a goddamn champ.
He sees himself as deeply different — and wears it as a point of pride. That's why he lives downtown while his teammates are mostly clustered in suburbs around the stadium. That's why he majored in classical studies at Tulane, loading up on courses in history, philosophy and religion."He's not a conformist, that's for sure," offensive tackle Ross Tucker says.
"I don't want to settle or get caught up in the same lifestyle all the time as my friends," Losman says. "I'm so different: My skin, the way I talk, my voice. People just kind of look at me sometimes and say, 'Where's this guy from?'
"My dad is white — blond hair and blue eyes. My mom is Mexican-American — two totally different cultures. All I do is hang around my African-American friends. I play football with them all day long. ... My football friends are like my family. I get all three cultures just, like, right in my face."
