Friday w/ Catch

Everybody listen up:
Catch and A-Trak just launched FOOL'S GOLD, their new motherfuckin record label, and it's gonna make big noise. Press release, please make it official:
Fool’s Gold is your new favorite record label.
Founded by DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, the imprint is the natural extension of many months the two have spent sharing new music and brainstorming on various creative projects. “This DJ scene that we're a part of in North America has influenced music scenes across the world, but ironically there aren't enough labels that represent it,” says A-Trak. “That's where Fool's Gold comes in. A label where we can release GLC and Kid Sister side-to-side without it being a stretch. Going from local phenomena like Gant-Man's Chicago juke music, to compilations that connect rap to electronic, this is music that we and our DJ peers would all play. As different genres continue to merge and our scene brings them all together, there’s a need for a label that'll take it beyond the MySpace/hipster party realm and crystallize it with releases—and what's great with Fool's Gold is that it’s not forced, since we're all just friends putting out each other's music.”
“To me, Fool’s Gold is the modern version of what labels like Sleeping Bag and Nervous were doing back in the 80s and early 90s,” says Nick Catchdubs. “They would put out house records and freestyle records at the same time as Black Moon or some experimental Arthur Russell shit, and it all made sense. I want Fool’s Gold to represent the absolute best in club music on all levels.”
The first Fool’s Gold release is Kid Sister’s “Control” single (produced by XXXChange of Spank Rock), backed by “Damn Girl” (produced by A-Trak) and an exclusive juke remix of “Damn Girl” by DJ Gant-Man. Upcoming releases include a 12” of exclusive tracks from A-Trak’s forthcoming Dirty South Dance mix CD, EPs from DJ Gant-Man and Chicago rap group Cool Kids, singles from Parisian electro whiz Kavinsky and G.O.O.D. music vet GLC, and much, much more.
Helping tie everything together is Brooklyn graphic artist Dust La Rock, whose original imagery for all Fool’s Gold logos and sleeve art provides a clever and constantly evolving visual aesthetic for the label.
All that! Check out Nick tonight on EVR payin tribute to the greatest of all time.
Show starts at 6.
