Wednesday Morning

It occurs to me that besides occasional forays into italian dunkers, animated gifs, lolcats, hip-hop and country musics, youtubery, and the overarching/underpinning Buffalo obsessions, this ol' stence stays talkin politics. Here's where we were roughly two years ago, and here's one year ago.

1. ken: yo. celine dione won that hillary clinton campaign song contest
caps: I know it man
caps: it's fucked
ken: i haven't felt this cheated since the 04 election

2. In the wake of yesterday's skin-shedding, The Atlantic Monthly's Matt Yglesias analyzes the Bloomberg effect, complete with lolcat. Incidentally, Yglesias is a great read; one of those rare political bloggers who can subtly sneak in TI references.

3. John Edwards' speech from yesterday's Take Back America conference. Reviews have been positive; here's a representative sample. Relatedly, is there a science to the frame YouTubes/Google movies choose as the "placeholder" frame before the clip is played? Because it's important. For example, even though Edwards gives a hell of a speech that I strongly encourage you to watch, you might be put off by this weird frame the clip shows right now, where it looks like Edwards is in the middle of whining about his bedtime. Now I've said too much. Watch the clip.

Hillary got booed on this same stage this morning, for what it's worth - which probably ain't a whole hell of a lot. Same thing happened last year.

4. Volunteers needed for simulated mission to Mars! 17 months locked with eleven other people in a fake spaceship. Sounds kinda like the way I remember high school.
