1. As preface for tonight's Democratic debate in Las Vegas (8 PM EST, CNN), here's a quick Edwards-centric round-up:
a. The New Republic's Noam Scheiber profiles Edwards and his "amazing knife skills";
b. Polls show the all-important Iowa and New Hampshire contests tightening up;
c. Hillary and the "politics of planting."
My take? I think tonight is gonna get ugly. Hillary has been hinting that she'll let loose on Obama and Edwards to change the "everyone-against-Clinton" narrative that's taken hold in the last two weeks, and I think we'll see the fightin' Senator Clinton tonight. How it works out is anybody's guess. Catch me drinking light beer and watching it with the volume up.

2. Relatedly: What the hell is wrong with me and my personal preferences? I feel like I'm perpetually stuck in David v. Goliath mode. Last-place Sabres v. first-place Senators tonight; 15-point-underdog Bills v. all-galaxy Patriots on Sunday night; third place Edwards v. Clinton & Obama tonight. And when my choice is the favorite (see: last year's Sabres), things feel weird and fall apart.
3. Please be advised that "wack" (as in "YO THAT'S WACK") is not spelled "whack" (as in "WHACK-A-MOLE").
