Thank You 2007 Bills

Edwards, like OC Steve Fairchild (who won't be missed!), shoulda taken those damn gloves off. Next year.

To be blunt: I never thought that these Bills would take it this far.

After Trent's fourth down prayer to Freddy Jackson was snuffed, I walked out into the unexpectedly sunny Philly 4:05 PM afternoon, surprised to be happy, surprised to feel so good. It was a hell of a campaign. I never expected it. It's been fun.

The dudes came a long way and learned a lot about themselves. Watching two California kids battle for Buffalo in the Lake Erie snow during the waning seconds of today's game warmed my heart. They'll be back: Edwards will be back, Lynch will be back, the offensive line will be back, Evans will be back, Peters will be back, Crowell will be back, Hargrove will be back, McCargo will be back. And our fallen will rise again: Poz will be back, Ko will be back. Plus draft picks to come.

These Bills will be back.

I thought for sure we'd hit the yoffs this year - Rosanne Cash's "Seven Year Ache" has echoed in my ears all season - but once Everett went down, once Nick fuckin Folk hit that 53 yarder for the Cowboys on Monday nite, the math changed. At that point, all I wanted was a team that played hard.

And I got it.

This year, rookies. Next year, the world.

But for now, the dream is done. I have no choice - I gotta face the bitter truth once again! - so here it is, one more once:

Go Bills.
