Tuesday Morning
Deluged with work, but so much to talk about. Thus, a quick update:
1. Obama is giving his speech on "race" as I type. Unfortunately, I strongly doubt it will allay my ever-intensifying fears about Democratic prospects come November. I am getting pretty goddamn shook, truth be told; much more on this later.
2. Fascinating etymology of the beloved colloquial term "skosh." Conjures rosy-hued images of cheerful Midwesterners making casseroles (read: "hot dishes") on a snowy evening every time I hear it.
3. Photoshop Disasters. Via Finny.
4. Yesterday morning, The Los Angeles Times reexamined Tupac's 1994 shooting in New York - the non-fatal one - laying the blame at Diddy's feet:
Now, newly discovered information, including interviews with people who were at the studio that night, lends credence to Shakur's insistence that associates of rap impresario Sean "Diddy" Combs were behind the assault. Their alleged motives: to punish Shakur for disrespecting them and rejecting their business overtures and, not incidentally, to curry favor with Combs.
Diddy & everyone else named denies the reporting vehemently.
5. According to Quantcast, el stence enjoys a "largely female, more youthful following." If their charts are at all accurate - and I somehow highly doubt they are, but I'm flattered nonetheless - chances are that if you're reading this, you're a Native American female aged 18-24 attending graduate school, making between 60-100K, and raising a child aged 6-17. If that's you, dear reader, let me be the first to salute you! You are running up the fucking score and winning huge in the game of life. Write me a letter.
