If You're Mad

and I'm just finishing it up now on DVR, and I'm fucking mad -

Well, if you're mad like me - and you NEVER ever ever ever ever EVER wanna fuckin hear the words "President Palin" - then I'm asking you to pony up one more once and get this fucking thing done. Let's win this. Let's win this.

I want to retire the word "maverick" once and for all. I never wanna hear "those" or "ones" - or, worst of all, "one of those" - used like that ever again. I don't want to hear Palin pretend she's tolerant. I don't want to hear Palin pretend that she knows what she's talking about. I never wanna hear her glib smugness again, never ever ever.

We're in the home stretch. This is the last time you can reach out and change it. We're going to win or lose this on the ground and on the airwaves. Five bucks. Five bucks right now. Just give up one beer at the bar - one Labatts, one Genny Cream, one Stella, one Miller Lite, one whatever - and let's get this done.

More on the debate tomorrow, of course, but as I'm finishing it up here, I would just like to say tonight thank you to Joe Biden for keeping it together. I could not have kept it together in the face of such a maddening onslaught of bullshit and jingoism and smugness and stage whispers and lies and fake attacks and endless talking points. I would have fucking lost it, but Joe was a pro. 100%. No mistakes. I am watching his closing statement right now and ol' Biden is an ace. A pure pro who did Delaware - and Democrats - proud tonight.

I am shocked my TV survived the night. Thank god for Miller Lite cans. Goodnight!

UPDATE: Ok, madness subsiding. It's been ten minutes or so now, so I've had a chance to catch my breath. My evolved read on the event: Palin ceases to be the incredible liability that she was. She played it clean, and Republicans have to feel good about that. That said: both the instant CNN and CBS polls of undecideds gave the debate cleanly to Biden. Why? Because like I said above, he didn't fuck up, either. He was strong, smart, prepared, and presidential. He walked the tightrope of debating a woman everyone thought would be a punchline and held his cool when she started swinging. So, to close it out: The status quo reigns still. No gamechanger. And that helps Obama-Biden.

Four weeks left...
