1. Also filed under "IT, FUCKIN FEELING": My Sabres gave me an early birthday present late last night, coming up big & bright (clap clap clap clap) deep in the heart of Texas. The dudes stormed back from an ugly, ugly 3-0 deficit to win a classic 5-4 in the shootout. Best believe I was running around the apartment waking up the dead. Hilites here - just listen to Rick Jeanneret howl when MacArthur scores the tying goal!
2. The Bloglin goes in on the regrettable-but-strangely-fascinating Zelda games produced for Nintendo by Philips in the 90s. Two Mishka links in two days, yeah, but with content like this, what choice do I really have?
3. Also 90s-related: Catch points me to a classic 1994 Funk Flex NYE mix that DJ Elwood recorded on tape way back then. As Elwood notes: "Note, there are a few fuck ups on the tape, where I recorded over or hit pause by mistake, so the tape has some gaps. MY bad." Man, I love it. Required!
Catch found it on Wayne's Twitter feed - which is excellent, if you're on that tweet yet. If you're not, be prepared for me to continue typing about it in entry after entry after entry. It's entertaining and useful, so get with it. Or not, I guess. But you're missing out on things I suspect you would find of interest.
4. I'm 28 today. Thank you so much for all the birthday shouts, dudes. I am overwhelmed - and feeling good about it. UPDATE: Man, Catch just got me all smiley and shit over here. SHUCKS! I would be remiss not to give a shout to the good people I share this birthday with: my TX brother MattSoReal, for one. Plus Sade, Jay Hanna Dean, bka Dizzy...
5. ...and Aaliyah. Today would have been her 30th. Fuck, man. Heavy. To celebrate, I re-upped the Aaliyah tribute mix I did for The FADER last spring.
