When I Was Young

I traced Garfields

and was a Red Sox fan, like Jonesy. Red Sox cause my dad was from Acton, outside Boston, and we used to go to games at Fenway once a summer. I recorded mixtapes with PJ in Brooklyn while 2004 was happening. I am still a Red Sox fan to some real degree, but since my dad died, it's been different. I check the standings for the Sox, but I also check for the Giants (I was a Will Clark fan growing up cause we have the same initials); Twins (Finny's from MN and her family is Twins-crazy); Mets (cause they're always on and they're Buffalo's parent club (just this year, and it's been a disaster), and they're not the Yankees); Brewers (cause of my man D Moore and also because I like beer and Prince Fielder) and that's basically it. I pay attention. But while I love baseball - hey, I used to play a LOT of APBA when I was young, and I still have the board and lots of cards somewhere - it's not like hockey or football for me. I'm a Buffalo loyalist, and if my city isn't on the bill, it's not the same.

I was also the owner/manager of the Ocelots, a team I ran for several years (sometimes in tandem with my dad) on Prodigy's Baseball Manager. I had a blast, although my teams were lousy.

At the time I was managing the Ocelots, since I'm drinking this beer and tapping out the greatest hits, I'll tell you that I was also the owner of the Armenian Terrorists in the Black Rock Fantasy Football League. The BRFFL started in my garage when I was 10 and continues to this day, actually, and next year we'll celebrate our 20th anniversary. I am a two-time champ, but both of my crowns came early in the league's existence. My team won as the Terrorists - I straight up stole the name out of a magazine ("book"), but through the years the franchise has also been known as the Buffalo Scrubs, MF Wildebeests, and the Latter Day Saints. For the last three years - four? - we've d/b/a Erasmus' Razzle Dazzle. We're fucked this year cause I traded a bunch of picks last year but whatever I'm stll going for mine.
