The Stencil http://www.thestencil.com/ 2012-05-15T10:52:13-05:00 TUESDAY AM http://www.thestencil.com/archives/2012/05/tuesday_am_2.html VIA MY OL' FRIEND A. "JERSEYFRESH" M.

Dad taped this for my sister and I way back. I remember that the weirdness of it took a minute to get adjusted to, which is curious, given the amount of weirdness (i.e., experiences both actually weird, as well as simply unprecedented) one is subjected to as a young youth.

Happy Chilled Alien Day http://www.thestencil.com/archives/2012/04/happy_chilled_a.html So despite not being a familiar friend of the alien I have been pressed into posting the time honored stencil tradition of chilled-ass smokin' alien.

I mean really what more can I say that hasn't already been said about this dude (though frankly i think he could use some pyramids or Mayan temples in the background). Actually his mega tight Euro shirt is kinda on trend for this season fashion wise, homie obviously is down with some Prabal Gurung. And look at the delicate way he's holding his joint, this dude is REFINED.

Reminds me of that awesome Time Life book about alien encounters. There was a page where they just had people who experienced alien abductions from all over the world draw their "alien" and they all look like our dude from above. COINCIDENCE? Really he's just trying to be a good pal and puff puff pass to the world, what a considerate pal!

It's like dre says at around the 7 min mark below "IYAYIYAYIIIIII"

Karla Black http://www.thestencil.com/archives/2012/02/karla_black.html Back in college, I made A LOT of impulse purchases in my school's art supply store, usually weird pens or holographic sticker sheets, but I loved to buy powder pigment dyes. Mainly to do creepy things like stare insistently at it spread out on a sheet of white paper or poke my finger slowly in the jar just to feel its softness. Yeah. Anyways I'm sure I have a couple jars kicking around somewhere.

So I had a strong reaction to these instillation pieces by Karla Black.
These chalky pastels are really doing it for me.

Reminds me how sometimes I'm so much more interested in the artist's process than in the finished piece. The sketchbook of ideas, the ghost sprays of a stencil, the paint spills on a drop cloth.

God I just want to stick my hand in that so bad, is that weird? It's like the same compulsion that makes me squish all the chocolate covered marshmallow candies that come out at Easter.

Finally http://www.thestencil.com/archives/2011/12/finally_1.html P writes:

"It finally hit youtube, waiting years for this"

This is a classic for us because of Tony Touch #58, which we listened to daily for months in 1998 while riding around Buffalo during our junior year of high school.

CHIPETTE JEANETTE

Haven't done this in awhile but there is so much great chipette fan art on the net. God and Jeanette is so obviously the best chipmunk.

I even inadvertently ended up at an old pre-finny Stencil post, so great minds think alike.

Thanksgiving http://www.thestencil.com/archives/2011/11/thanksgiving.html Allen Ginsberg poem that I read for the school in the sixth grade. I miss my Dad.

A Desolation

Now mind is clear
as a cloudless sky.
Time then to make a
home in wilderness.

What have I done but
wander with my eyes
in the trees? So I
will build: wife,
family, and seek
for neighbors.

Or I
perish of lonesomeness
or want of food or
lightning or the bear
(must tame the hart
and wear the bear).

And maybe make an image
of my wandering, a little
image-shrine by the
roadside to signify
to traveler that I live
here in the wilderness
awake and at home.

- Allen Ginsberg
